Perplexity

Perplexity has open-sourced Numbat, a lightweight cross-platform security layer that watches AI coding agents on developer machines and can flag or block risky behavior such as secret access and privilege escalation before it executes. The tool ships as a single Go binary with 52 built-in detection rules that default to monitor-only mode.

Polar, an AI browser startup led by a former Perplexity engineer who helped build the Comet browser, has raised $5.7 million in seed funding led by Madrona Ventures. Unlike Comet's consumer focus, Polar targets knowledge workers automating tasks in sales, recruiting, marketing, and research, with paid plans from $20 a month.

Perplexity expanded its Personal Computer agent beyond macOS to Windows, putting the assistant within reach of more than a billion devices. The agent works conversationally across authorized local files, Microsoft 365, and the web, and launches first for subscribers of the company's $200-per-month Max and Enterprise Max plans.
