Rents are down in the Miami, but still unaffordable for many
South Florida rents kept sliding in June, with the Miami metro's median asking rent at $2,277, down 2.6% from a year earlier, per Realtor.com's latest rental report. Even so, the region remains one of the costliest in the country, with living expenses recently found to have surpassed New York's.

Rents are dropping in Miami, but living in South Florida is still expensive
Miami's median asking rent fell 2.6% year over year to $2,277 in June, a steeper drop than the 1.5% national decline and notable for coming during peak summer renting season. The station notes rents are still well above pre-pandemic levels and that insurance, tuition and other costs keep South Florida expensive overall.

Miami-Fort Lauderdale Rents Are Going Down
Realtor.com reports the Miami metro's median asking rent slipped to $2,277 in June 2026, a 2.6% annual decline, as rents across the 50 largest US metros fell 1.5% to a $1,692 median. Rising permit activity in Florida markets is helping add supply and ease rental prices.
