The Wall Street Bonus Boom Is Back. Some Bankers Could See Them Jump Up To 30%
Wall Street is heading for one of its strongest bonus seasons in years, with compensation consultancy Johnson Associates raising its 2026 forecasts on the back of record dealmaking, strong trading and an AI-fueled rally. Employees at the largest banks are expected to benefit most, with some bonuses jumping as much as 30%.

Bad luck to all the bankers who thought private credit jobs would make them rich
Pay in private credit is going the wrong way: Johnson Associates now expects performance compensation at private credit firms to be flat to down 10% this year, and Blackstone's credit unit cut its performance payouts sharply. Meanwhile, debt capital markets bankers are seeing bonuses rise 5% to 10%.
